Job Description


Job Purpose:

 

This role will form part of an expanding health and safety department required to help maintain the group health and safety management system.

The Health and Safety Co-ordinator will be the principal health and safety contact for the management of contractors for Crabtree Property Management and will:

 

  • develop and maintain an efficient approved contractor database 
  • have an active role in the development of the group health and safety management system 
  • ensure correct contractor selection in accordance with current UK health and safety legislation
  • review and approve risk and method statements of approved contractors wishing to work within properties managed by the group
  • issue permits as part of the groups safe system of work for high risk activities
  • be expected to work closely with other members of the health and safety team to deliver a professional and consistent service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage minor works health and safety plans/Construction Phase Plans according to the Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM) 2015.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with all other company departments to ensure health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to, and improved, as required.
  • To build relationships with other key stakeholders within the group, and contractors, by providing feedback, meeting regularly and ensuring quality of work is in line with company and statutory requirements.
  • Communicate issues to the Group Health and Safety Manager for review on a regular basis.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with all other company departments to ensure communication and service delivery issues are minimised.
  • Promote and act in accordance with all company values, systems, policies and procedures.

 

This role will involve property visits and meeting contractors; therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to travel to other offices and properties, and the occasional overnight stay may be required.


Job Requirements

Skills and Knowledge

  • A working knowledge of health and safety management systems is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • If not already acquired, the applicant will be expected to gain the grade of Tech IOSH within 24 months of appointment. A comprehensive training programme will be provided, and support will be given by the Group Health and Safety Manager.
